Win XP SP3 -> Win7 64b

So I'm receiving an installation disk of Windows 7 Home Premium from Dell. However, my school is selling Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and I'd prefer that, so I'm going to purchase that.

Since I'm buying that (for $40), I'd like to know if I can clean install Windows 7 on my friend's laptop, even if he was running Windows XP (32 bit). It's just a normal clean install, right? No problems with 32 to 64 bit?

Yes. The prior operating system does not matter during a clean install. In fact, prior OS doesn't even need to be installed (except in the case of upgrades which there are workarounds for anyway).
