You may be a candidate for bcdedit or EasyBCD.

If you can't start fresh, can you at least get to a command prompt?

Umm i dont have a clue how to do any of the stuff with partitions, and i dont feel confident enough to meddle with them cause i know if i do something wrong then it will all break for good.

That tutorial isnt very useful to me, i dont understand it, is there one that puts it in the plainest simplest terms that i can understand, a literally step by step guide through the process.

I dont know what that BCD thing is, and i can get a command prompt if i boot from the windows 7 installation disk. Its under some repair settings.

OK forget what i said, i went onto the advanced custom install and just pressed next and it started the install, i though i would have to do some advanced stuff but i guess not, and i still get to keep my old files in the Windows.old file which is a bonus.

I am doing the install now and when its all over i will let you guys know how it went, i will make sure not to put in that acer stuff, its just their rubbish that comes with the computer and i dont care for that anyway.

Thanks for all your help and i hope my problem is solved now.

Thanks everyone for your help, windows 7 is up and running now. I didnt put in the acer disk and i wont. I will have to install all my old stuff though, but i dont mind if it means having a computer.

Is there anyway to make all the windows.old files to go in the right places? Cause for things like settings and favourites and other things i cant simply drag the files back on to the desktop.

I would of really liked to have everything the way it was before. I dont know if thats possible no that i have done the update process. But it doesnt matter if there isnt a way.

Once again thanks for all your help, i just had to do a custom advanced install and it all worked out :P It better be worth all this trouble i went through :P

    Congrats on the installation.

Just look through the windows.old folder and take out anything you can use.

You will have to set everything up again. Load all the programs and change the settings.

OK thanks mate, I do have some other problems though which if you know anything about i could use some help?

Basically, since i havnt installed the acer disk, all the acer applications arnt on the PC, like the launch manager (my special programmable button), and mouse scroll wheel isnt working, I also have some buttons to turn on/off internet and bluetooth and disable the mouse button and my volume control (Used by pressing the blue Fn key and then up or down arrow keys), all of which do work, but just dont show up on the screen, so i dont know what my volume is at or if my internet is on or off etc.

Thanks if you know what to do.

Make sure all your drivers are up-to-date.
