No mediaplayer after upgrade from vista to windows7

    Hi,

I encountered the following problems after installing windows7 upgrade.
After completing the windows 7 installation the media player 12 is NOT installed (and I can't find it anywhere on my computer. Reinstalling windows 7 several times doesn't help).

Furthermore, I can't install live products such as moviemaker. After installing the error wmvcore.dll is missing pops up. I've tried the following advise, but no succes.... Wmvcore.dll - Wmvcore.dll Not Found Error - Missing Wmvcore.dll - Fix Wmvcore.dll

All other functions seem to be working fine. I had no such problems before on Vista, I have uptodate antivirus software. I assume the problems mentioned above are interrelated. Any advise??

    Many thanks

Start over, this time do a clean install. Use windows easy transfer, to transfer your email, favorites etc. Now, begin as you did the previsous time. This time choose custom intall. When asked for your product key, do not give it. When completedr use easy transfer to get back your settings etc. then install all of your programs. When you are happy with what you have activate and make a system image.

It sounds like you did a upgrade which never works out entirely correct, you should have done a clean or custom install.

Did ou use a retail DVD or did you download from the net to get your copy of W7?
Did you use the upgrade advisor before starting the process? It could be what you are missing is not compatible with 7.

    HI,

Thanx again, but no luck yet... Yes, upgrade advisor advised it was compatible. I have a Toschiba satellite p300-116. I used a legally downloaded version, burnd a dvd from net download. No error massages there, no error messages during installation process... everything else works as far as tested.
Still no mediaplayer and a wmvcore.dll missing after installing moviemaker....

    Suggestions??? Many thanks

I dont have as much confidence in a download as I do in the retail DVD, but thats me. Want to try burning again, at a slower speed?
