HDD cloning time

I would love to do a clean installation, see "ACHI blocking installation"

Iv'e just aborted the Todo, it had only copied the system reserved partition.

Another try with Macrium Reflect to clone ended with something like "broken pipe". If it had succeeded it would have taken about 6 hours.

makes me think you might have disk problems.

Were you trying to preserve your multi-boot by not following the disk wiping steps from Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums?

This is self-defeating since the one step which works more than all others to overcome installation problems is wiping the disk with Clean Command. Over the years the only cases I remember which fail to get Win7 installed are those who refuse to do this, while all others get it installed eventually.

I would test the hard drive now using HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, then wipe it to create a full disk Primary Active partition from Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums upon which to run a full Disk Check.

When you are ready to continue with the troubleshooting in the other thread then we will get it installed as we have in every one of tens of thousands of cases we've helped with here where there is cooperation and all steps are followed with none skipped, because the skipped step often proves to be the solution.

I can run the Windows MGAdiag but I can't attach it, it is a waste of time anyway because this copy of Windows was sent to me direct from Microsoft in Dublin. I use hardware switching to run multiple OS's so there cannot be any interaction. The common factor is the BIOS but that works with 5 different operating systems with no problems. The new ssd works fine with Mint 17.1 64bit but that's not what I bought it for. SMART monitoring does not show any problems either with the ssd or the hdd with Windows on it. I will run the HD Diagnostic tomorrow.

If these OS's are on other drives did you wipe the target HD with Diskpart Clean Command?

Were all other HD's unplugged?
