Help installing Windows 7 after format of old windows and ubuntu
First I had windows 7 ultimate x64 running on my pc. Then I installed a Ubuntu 14.04 alongside it and got the dual boot to work properly. Then I decided to do a fresh reinstall of windows 7. However, something went wrong during this process and on the last step of the installation, I get an error reading, "Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware."
I assume this is because I still have a separate partition for Ubuntu so I formatted and deleted that partition but I couldn't extend the primary partition onto the previous linux partition. Also, I just noticed a 6GB linux partition still present, so I'm going to try the same with it. I also booted into Ubuntu on my flashdrive, but couldn't use gparted to extend the partition.
So right now there is not operating system on my PC. This is all being done on a 120GB ssd but I have 4 other hard drives connected to the PC as well. I just need some help to install Windows 7 onto my SSD. Thanks.
update:
I managed to combine the 3 partitions(original windows, original ubuntu, and the 6GB linux partition) but I still get the same error when trying to install Windows 7
