She may have never had the DVDs unless it was an option she paid for. There is a program on the computer for creating the set of Factory Restore discs, usually prompted to do so during setup but can be done later. And usually only one set can be created. There may even be a choice of created a bootable USB drive with the same files but would need an 8GB or larger.
still down loading windows updates on the said laptop this factory restore discs thing keeps coming up but so far turned it off thinking best restore after all updates ....... but now im thinking they will make me do updates again if ever have to, but to be honest its buzzing now we assumed it was for scrap heap

hate predictive text thing grrr

180 updates is normal.

Why were you downloading the iso if you had the dvd ?

What is a blumming cd ?

I wonder it "blooming" was meant? It's an English/Aussie term as in blooming idiot.

No there is no SP2.

Once you have updated, make a system image to avoid going through all those updates again.

Understood

There is no need to save SP1 on a cd, it`s just an update.

But you should download the iso of Windows 7 you want with SP1 and burn to dvd so you have it, from here.

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River My Digital Life

And this software works perfectly for burning a dvd.
