Windows cannot be installed to this disk

Hi. I think many have posted this. I even tried many of the solutions. But nothing helps. I always get this error when installing windows 7 on a clean formatted hardrive- 'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computers bios may not support booting to this disk. Ensure this disks controller is enabled in the bios menu.'

    PLEASE HELP

Do you have UEFI, BIOS, a combination of UEFI/Legacy? What Windows 7 disk? Microsoft [blue-disk], OEM, rescue disk? Wiser techs than I will be asking you for details. Stay tuned. And, how did you clean-format this particular hard-drive?

Your hard drive has to be converted from GPT to MBR and you have to disable UEFI in the bios.

Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk

Option 2 Step 2, using your Windows 7 install dvd

    Command Prompt at Startup

Pay very close attention to step 1, read it carefully.

AddRAM indicated making sure your newly formatted HD is MBR, NTFS. If so, you should be able to install your OS onto it. Exactly what command[s] did you use to format this HD?

Work through these Steps to Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums.

Let us know exactly where the failure is and if all steps fail test your hard drive using the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by Disk Check on the full disk partition you've created from the steps above.
