The WLAN module is Atheros number AR5B97.
There was no listing here. https://ez93.com/devices/wireless/atheros/
I am unsure how to determine the right download. Thank you for the help thus far.

Thanks for the help thus far, and I apologize for the slow reply. I seemed to have downloaded the Wireless LAN Atheros and am now able to see wireless connections. However, I am unable to connect to anything.

Do you have a wireless router in your home ? That`s what you connect to, and you have to know the security key, if it has one.

Why don`t you just use an ethernet cable to connect to your router/modem ?

Please fill in your specs with every detail you can provide, look at mine for an example.

I find that hard to believe.

I was unclear and somewhat confused. I meant that I want a wireless connection. I've yet to try a wired connection.
I see my campus's wireless name, but when I try to connect, it fails. I entered the necessary information.

Here is the computer's information: Gateway NV55S38u-63424G75Mnkk Notebook Laptop specs
Thank you for your help so far.

Rightclick on the connection icon in System Tray to Troubleshoot the wireless connection. See if it finds the problem.

If not what is the exact error or failure you're getting?

It just says "Windows was unable to connect"
Then it offers to "Troubleshoot problems"
and "Tell me more about Internet connection problems"
Troubleshooting says to "Investigate router or access point issues" but I don't have access to the routers.
