Appreciate your comments about AVG. I know most don't like it, but I do. It has served me well since W98 days. Comodo runs IceDragon. I don't use it often. As far as the odd number look at the bottom of whs tutorial it explains it.

SSD Alignment

Thanks

I would at least uninstall both programs and clean up their remnants with CCleaner Disk and Registry cleaner, then test boot and performance without them. If it improves install MSE or Panda to compare those too. There is no reason to hold onto the past if its confirmed to harm performance, as AVG and Comode often does.

Had MSE don't like it, or trust it. It's not rated very well either. No problem getting rid of Comodo, rarely use anything except IE explorer, which you probably don't like either.

IE is fine. Panda is a more aggressive AV than MSE if you need one.

If chronically infected then many add Malwarebtyes Real Time protection and never get infected again. If not then MSE is normally enough.

Like I said, I appreciate that. Not to worried about that at this time. Still want to get stuff moved from SSD to HDD, and HDD remains my download to site. That's the reason I came here from the beginning.

Go back to my post #92 on Page 10. Maybe that's what you are looking for.

Be sure once data is backed up to wipe the hard drive with Diskpart Clean Command so that old boot code cannot interfere at all with Win7 boot. The HD is already delaying the boot some so this should eliminate that.

Then since you now have SSD in DISK0 you can create your partitions in Disk Mgmt, not needing to worry about Logicals since there will be no Primary Partitions preceding Win7. Partition or Volume - Create New

@whs

Yes, that's pretty much it. That post got lost in the shuffle I guess. I'll read through it better, but looks confusing to me. Also, since SSD is working fine I think I can probably wipe the HDD now and start with a clean drive there, but not sure.
