    Clean reinstall


    I'm selling my laptop and want to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS.

    I went to the MS website, but it wouldn't accept my key - I found out that I have an OEM, and that's the reason.

    My question - I have the install cd from my pc and it is the same as the laptop - both win 7 pro.

    Can I use that disc to do a clean install on the laptop with the laptop key?

    Yes, you can use that installer with the laptop CD key.

    Make sure it's 64bit if there's more than 4gb RAM.

    Then as long as the COA sticker says Professional version there is no reason the Key will not work, as long as it is inputted accurately.
