Using original Win. 7. Now having Side by side error

The cause if this error I believe is corruption of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 originally part of the install OS for Win 7. My reading on this error is that the only correction is to upgrade or reinstall the OS but I am unable to do so. The side by side error prevents any program from running, even IE from running.

When I attempt to use my install disk I created from the WIN 7 HP version I got from this site a few years back, but I get an error that the the existing version of the version I am attempting to repair does not match the DVD.

This side by side error has also left my mouse not functioning, so I'm struggling to use the keyboard in place of the mouse. I really need to repair my installation.

Please assist with comments. I really love this forum it has always been so informative and a great resource.

Please help thanks!!

Since you cannot work in Win7 you'll need to be able to boot into the Win7 System Recovery Options
to try to System Restore, run System File Checker, attempt to boot into Safe Mode, etc from Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

If you cannot access these via F8 at boot, and the disk will not work for you now, then can you burn a new System Repair Disk from another Win7 PC of the same bit version? If not see Step 1 in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 about how to get ahold of Win7 installation media since you may need that for repairs, or if necessary rescuiing your files to do a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

Thanks my friend for your quick reply.

I can boot to safe mode, just haven't found a way to reload the OS without loosing my data. Will continue to follow suggestions and report back.

Thanks !!

Shawn just posted a suggestion in reply to your post at Advanced Boot Options - Page 2 - Windows 7 Help Forums.

Those options as well as Safe Mode are more for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

If Win7 is irreparable then you can rescue your files using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console, a Linux disk, or Paragon Rescue Kit Free Edition 11.0 Free CD.

Then either run from boot Dell Windows 7 PC Restore, or do the superior Clean Reinstall Windows 7 for which Dell should provide you a Reinstallation DVD if you don't have one.

First I would run Dell Hardware Diagnostics from F12 Menu to confirm the hardware condition. Then if you choose the Clean reinstall be sure to read the Special Note for Dell Owners at end so you known which partitions to save during reinstall.
