Windows 7: Family Pack: Share with My Dad?

10 Nov 2009   #11

Yes 3 HP licenses (family or not) for $149 is what we paid for pre-orders. Great deal.

They are only communal in the sense that you get one disk, but since all of the installers are the same, it is just as easily three separate licenses with the same key.

They only check that you don't have it on more than 3 computers at a time.

Win 7 Family Pack
I installed a second copy of Windows Home Premium on my Netbook. I now get a message 'Invalid Copy'. My question is the 'UPGRADE' is not really an upgrade but instead I need a new key. Will a Family Pack overlay an allready installed win 7. I will not be upgrading from XP or Vista.
