Vista Ultimate 32 bit
32 bit Vista to 64 bit Win 7

I am running vista Ultimate 32 bit. I have an upgrade version of Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Is it possible to do the upgrade as long as I select clean install and not upgrade? When I try to run th esetup file I get an error that says this file is not compatible with the version of windows I am running.

Microsft said it works as a clean install biut I think that answer might be wrong.

64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Hello Halkaplan, and welcome to Seven Forums.

When going from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS, or the other way around, you can only do a clean install. You can only do a in-place upgrade if it was 32-bit to 32-bit or 64-bit to 64-bit instead. If needed, this can help show you how to do a clean install with a Upgrade Windows 7 though.

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Hope this helps,
