HP Envy m6-1205dx - No HP Logo

A friend of mine came to me with his laptop saying it was slow and clunky etc. It was filled with all of HP's "crapware." He didn't have anything on the computer so I re-installed Windows 7 (It previously had Windows 7). I've done this dozens of times and not had a single issue. Well this time I kept getting the "Error 1935" anytime I tried to install Office, which HAD to be installed as my friends in college.

After looking online to try and find a possible solution, the only one I found was to re-install windows again.

So I did that. Well tried to do that. I booted up my install disc from USB (Windows 7 Multi-Version ISO) and wiped the hard drive with these commands in a command prompt window accessed by pressing 'Shift + F10' on the install window:
In the CMD window, type in Each Command and Press <ENTER> Key as follows:

DiskPart <ENTER>

list disk <ENTER>

select disk 0 <ENTER>

clean <ENTER> (Will Take a While)

create partition primary align=1024 <ENTER>

format quick fs=ntfs <ENTER> (Will Take a While)

assign <ENTER>

active <ENTER>

exit <ENTER>

exit <ENTER>
So I did that and Windows started the install. It got all the way through to finishing install and tried to restart itself. Now everytime the computer starts it sticks on a black screen and all it says is "Press ESC key for Startup Menu." The HP logo never shows up. I've pressed ESC and it does nothing.

Any idea whats going on and/or how to fix it?

Thanks,
hArLtRoN

I would try the link but the computer does not boot. There is no way right now for me to get into the BIOS.

The computer turns on and its says "Press ESC key for Startup Menu"
If I press it, it does nothing, if I don't press it, it does nothing.

There are plenty of threads about this to study for a fix from hp envy won't boot press esc key for startup menu - Google Search, most prominently Press ESC Key for Startup Menu - ESC key doesn't work - Page 2 - HP Support Forum - 1188279.

First off unplug everything including the battery, hold the power key to release residual power. Then plug back in a/c power and try booting again. If this fails add the battery. Do not plug back in any other peripherals.

If this isn't enough start working through the many fixes found for searching this issue.

Same searches apply. Work through those fixes first as they are how owners of this HP line resolved it.

I've tried resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for 30 seconds, I've reseated the RAM, I've tried (WIN + B + POWER) and it didn't work either.

Any ideas? I'm stumped...

Is the hard drive detected in BIOS setup now? If so google it's serial to find the maker or look on the drive to find the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, boot and run it to find the condition of the HD.

Then do the RAM test and work through the other steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Unlike the dozens of steps which were provided in the google search for that error, report back on every step you complete so we gather more information and can suggest other steps.

I'd also test the installation media in another PC? Where did you get it? How is it burned? Do you have the ISO for the licensed version, as this is important enough I'd burn another disk or write a flash stick using the tools specified in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7. Those are the steps to getting a perfect install.

Have you reset BIOS to defaults? Look in BIOS for any evidence of this being a UEFI BIOS, CSM, Legacy BIOS, is a UEFI flash stick option offered. A UEFI flash stick requires special formatting discussed in tutorial. For non-UEFI use Windows Download Tool provided.
