How to get rid of Windows Setup?

Hi. I have tried installing Windows in place of my Windows XP, but after it reboots I believe I get a variant of the BSOD. It says this:

    Stop: 0x0000005c (0x0000010B, 0x00000003, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I would like to know if there is a way to get rid of this Windows Setup during my boot manager, as I have approximately half a second to press something on my keyboard to prevent it to automatically going to Setup and going to my Earlier version of Windows instead.

I do not wish to install Windows 7 at this time, instead I will be looking to upgrade some hardware; is there a way to get rid of Windows Setup? I have been told to try to go into BIOS and turn something with SATA in the name off. I get the same problem.

I originally have two WIndows XP; Drive C is my own, Drive D is Windows XP in Chinese.

    Thank you.

At least for Dell computers, and I think many others. press f12 repeatedly. Do not hold down the key, make rapid strokes. If that does not work you can try f2.

yes that is the Bios. Good luck, let us know what happens. I may have forgot to mention. You have to do this right after it begins to boot up.

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

Don't remember if this is the same in XP, but you can try it.

Go to msconfig or System Configuration, Boot tab, Should be a time out box, enter the number in seconds that you want the boot menu to wait.

If that doesn't work download EasyBCD.

Click the 'Change Settings' button then adjust the 'Bootloader Timeout' box.

I have never had your problem, but I do know that the screen that you will see will be quite explicit. Look it over, if you see what you need, just do it. If you see several options and you are not sure of what to do, make a note and get back to us.

There are others here with much more knowledge than me, you can wait and see what they have to say.

If it were me, I would take a system image, in case I screwed up, while making changes.

Dave, unfortunately that is not for the boot manager that has Earlier Version of Windows and Windows Setup; that only edits the boot manager with my Windows Xps. Thank you, I will try that alternative.
