Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit partition.

Hi Al,

I was wondering if there is anyway to download a system restore/rescue iso for CD/DVD online?

I have Win 7 Home Prem. 64bit installed on a partition, but trying a flavor of linux, I added another partition to put the linux up, but it unmounted that partition, the data is still there, but can't get to it and I don't know how to fix the problem. In GParted in linux came with this error.
Linux Failed to load runlist for $MFT/$DATA.
highest_vcn = 0x6a, last_vcn - 1 = 0x138ff
Failed to load $MFT: Input/output error
Failed to mount '/dev/sda1': Input/output error
NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was
made to NTFS by this software.

Unable to read the contents of this file system!
Because of this some operations may be unavailable.
The cause might be a missing software package.
The following list of software packages is required for ntfs file system support: ntfsprogs / ntfs-3g.

I would rather have Win 7 back and I know it didn't delete the partition. Can anyone please help?

It might be fixable with a startup repair disc, which can be made with a blank cd on any windows PC, it should be the same bit version as yours.

For future reference, just run Linux off a cd, flash drive or install it in a Virtual machine if you`re just trying it out.

Have you tried accessing System Recovery Options via the F8 Advanced Boot Options? From there you can confirm the 100mb System Reserved partition (if you have it) or Win7 partition (if you don't) is Partition Marked Active and then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts.

Obtaining Win7 media is discussed in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

We have no links to Repair CD downloads which as mentioned can be created from any Win7 PC with your same bit version. However there is an enhanced Repair CD which offers even more repair options discussed in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start Step 11.

For future reference the best way is here to Dual Boot - Windows 7 and Linux - Windows 7 Forums or if you already have Linux on the drive add it from Win7 using Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7
