Toshiba P50-B-115 Downgrade Win 7 with UEFI

Good day,

First of all thank you for your really appreciated help.

I want to downgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 7 my notebook Toshiba P50-B-115, and I would like to maintain UEFI BIOS.

Here is what I did step by step, according to your superb guide:

1) From bios setup
Disable SECURE BOOT
Keep enabled UEFI MODE

2) Created a bootable GPT/UEFI USB with win7 64 bit using Rufus

3) Launched Win 7 setup at boot using USB
---> Custom Install 'advanced'
---> 4 partition on Drive 0
---> Deleted all 4 partitions and then clicked on New - Apply

4) Now I have 4 partitions again: Recovery, System, MSR, Primary
(On the guide i was following it's recommended to have only 3 partitions, System-MSR-Primary)

5) After choosing Drive 0 Partition 4 "Primary", I proceeded with the installation.
It worked fine until the end and then it rebooted the pc.

From there I'm stucked: if I keep my USB into the PC, the installation process starts again from the beginning.
If I unplug the USB, pc is unable to boot and i get a message saying to reinsert the win7 DVD to correct errors at start-up.
Windows is unable to load: I get a message similar to .... System/EFI/Documents... etc

I've followed the guides here at sevenforum on how to install Win7 UEFI, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong.

Again, thank you for your much needed help :-)

Matteo

Hi to all!

Could my problem be related to the USB 3.0? Because my laptop has only 4 USB 3.0.

Do you think I could solve it using a DVD or it doesn't matter?

Thank you!

Yes, using DVD to install will overcome the lack of USB3 drivers in Win7 installation media if you don't have any USB2 ports.

Hi and thank you for your answer.

I would like to ask it one more time because I can't understand pc's logic behind it.

I only have USB 3.0 but I can still use my mouse/keyboard during the installation process. Then it reboots as said when installation is completed, and it starts again from the beginning.

Then if I unplug my USB, I get this message:

Failed to start
.....
File: EFI/microsoft/boot/bcd
Status: 0xc000000d

Do you still think it could be related to USB 3.0 lack of drivers?

Thank you !!

If the flash stick does indeed install but restarts installation at reboot that is because it is wrongly set first to boot in BIOS setup.

As it says in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 you need to set the hard drive first to boot in BIOS setup, then trigger the stick to boot using the Toshiba F12 boot menu key. This will keep the stick from autostarting at reboot. If not unplug it during reboot.

How are you booting the stick?

When are you unplugging it?

My boot sequence is:
USB - HDD- DVD.

I've tried to unplug it when it reboots after the completed installation.
I've also tried to change boot sequence after installation (HDD - USB) but, with no USB inserted, I get always the error as in the above post.
