    Very good question themorus.

Does it not indicate on the Microsoft DVD.

Do not Lend or Make illegal copies.

To me that means do not copy or lend.

Now the problem is what does Microsoft consider illegal copies?
Who if anybody can you lend the DVD?

I don't know what Microsoft's opinion is on this matter.

I have asked for some help with your question.

Sorry, but not legally. Doing so would violate the copyright and EULA of Microsoft.

Depends on the country - if the user is in a few countries in the EU, it's actually either not illegal explicitly or legal grey area. In the west it's basically illegal (it violates copyright not the EULA), and in most eastern countries it is also (outside of, say, China and India).

Okay guys, I get it that condemning piracy and whatnot is the regular course of action, but consider this: perhaps OP can't get OEM disc.

I can relate to this guy:
I have to laptops, lenovo thinkpad and asus. Thinkpad comes with recovery partition, it works I've recovered my OS to factory condition, no problem.
Asus however, has no recovery partition. It requires you to burn 5 DVDs. Which I did, when I first got it. But DVDs went spoiled over last few years or something, they don't boot at all. So I try to use Asus software to burn recovery discs again. It fails with cryptic message every time. After digging around, I find out that this software creates total 5 4,7 gig archives. Then, it creates 5 ISO files. Then it starts copying said ISO files before the burning process. It takes 60 GB of space to burn recovery discs. Now, this laptop I left for my family, so it's a bloated, never reinstalled windows, on a single, physical drive, which is 110GB. Windows installation is taking up 60 GB and there's NOTHING I can do to decrease it. So basically I can't burn those damn dvds.

So, I call Microsoft. They tell me to contact Asus. Asus in turn, tells me that they no longer have Win7 oem discs (which is bollocks, but it makes sense), but I can send them my past-warranty laptop for a servicing. Starting price: $100. So, I'm priviledged to pay one hundred bucks for a service I would do myself, if they bothered to put one of recovery CDs in a box.
So I call Microsoft again and super nice guy suggests me to find OEM disc on the internet, as long as it's legal.

I really, really don't want to pirate it, as in acquire cracked version of OS and do a fresh install. Right now, I'm running ubuntu live on that laptop, since win7 is so bloated and malware-ridden, it is non-functional.
I need OEM disc to make a reinstall, not to steal it from shelves. Not to mention that in accordance to copyright law of both EU and my country, what I'm trying to do is verified legal and classified under one backup copy for personal use.

So, before you start bashing someone next time, consider alternatives. Because call me weird, but I'm not paying $100 for a fresh-bloatware-infested install of OS (I won't get restore CD after servicing either).

I am in the situation where I don't have a windows 7 install disc and the iso download does not allow people with the software preinstalled in the laptop to get one. All I want to do is preform a repair install since some of the registry is missing or corrupted and the laptop is unable to boot. Now I'm at a loss for what to do since paying for something that I've bought and should be entitled to just doesn't sit well with me.
