Windows 7 Home .exe Software Download

I recently had to have my Western Digital Hard Drive (which was still under warranty by Western Digital) swapped out and replaced by WD. Because I was able to do so, I removed the hard drive, and sent it back to them, and they sent me a refurbished hard drive. Not thrilled about the refurbished part, but nothing I can do about it.

The hard drive crashed before I could make a backup copy of my Windows 7 OS. I have attempted to contact Sony, Microsoft and Western Digital, and nobody will provide me with an executable copy of the software to reinstall onto my new hard drive without paying over $100, and Microsoft even hangs up on me when I ask to speak with a supervisor. Microsoft does tell me that my license key is valid, however, but that the license key was partitioned to my old hard drive so I asked them to unpartition it so I can place it on the new hard drive that Western Digital sent to me. I think it should automatically do that when I reinstall the new hard drive automatically, shouldn't it? But I still need to obtain an executable disk somewhere of Windows 7.

Is anyone able to assist me with this? I DO own the license to this version of Windows, Microsoft has verified this, they just hang up on me when they realize I do not wish to spend another $150 at this time (I'm a Master's student and already pay obscene amounts of money for other softwares!) Thank you most kindly in advance for any advice or assistance anyone would provide and I apologize if I posted in the wrong area.

You can try ordering the recovery disc for your computer from Sony. If you provide the full model number I can help look to see if it's available or not.

Does the school have a campus store? If so they usually have cheap Windows install discs available. Just make sure you get the one that matches what you have so the key on the COA sticker will work.

Microsoft used to provide, via DigitalRiver, the ability to download all Windows 7 ISOs but removed them in February of 2015 so look on the internet for a Torrent download of Windows 7 Home Premium. Not the best idea but a possibility. Make sure you validate the MD5 checksum after download so you know it's an unaltered iso.

Everything is here to do a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

Step 1 discusses how to locate and confirm safe media for reinstall.

You absolutely do not need to buy another copy of Win7 as you own the one that came on that PC for life to reinstall as often as you want. You just need to be resourceful about finding any 64 bit Win7 installation disk to then if necessary unlock to access your version.
