Startup problem Coolmaster Storm case

Howdy

My computer has done a strange thing. I was using it this evening for a while. I went away from it and came back maybe an hour later to use it and it was off. I thought it was sleeping , which it does, I moved the mouse and nothing. It had switched itself off. I pressed the on button and it went through the startup. But it didn't boot into the desktop like usual but it stopped at a blank screen with a little flashing cursor at the top. Not sure what to do I pushed in the on/off button until it powered off.

Usually when I start it the big red fan in top spins and then like say 3 seconds later the fan goes turbo and there's a beep and the computer screen loads up going through the startup process.

Now when I press the start button the fan just idles and there's no turbo and no beep.

I tried it again and this time it beeped and started to startup again but it ended up at the blank screen again. I this time switched the power off at the wall. Switched on power again , tried it again and it just idled again and no beep, no startup. I hope I'm making sense here

Sounds like it is not completing the BIOS load. It could be a bad memory stick or power supply issue. How old is the computer's power supply?

Open up the case and check all the connections (i.e. SATA cables, re-seat the memory and Video card). Then you could try booting with one memory stick (if it still doesn't boot, then try with just the other stick).

This motherboard has some LED lights near the memory. Do the lights come on? Do any stay on during the boot up process?

Lastly, there is a CMOS reset button on the motherboard. If nothing else works, reset.
