Clean installing W7 dont' get 'select your computer's current loc'n'
Hi there, my first post.
I've had my custom PC a year and it's a bit crammed with junk.
Doing a clean install of Windows 7 prior to the Win 10 coming out so it's nice and clean. BUT!!.......
I followed instructions online, Put in my W 7 installation disk, and deleted my hard drive, and partitions.
It all installed perfectly, I thought. Except the font stayed big and blurry...not sharp and small, and it never got to the set your computer's current location, part of the windows setup. It went straight to the desktop, all out of resolution. It had only the recycle bin, the start button, an ie button, a library button, and a widows media player button.
It looks like it's in safe mode!!
What have I done wrong?
Have I somehow installed it in safe mode? I'm not getting all the final network setup part of the installation. And it all looks huge and blurry, like in safe mode.
I started over again, with the same result.
I click on network settings and no networkconnections available, despite this being the main pc in our house with a wired connection to a wireless router! troubleshooting can't find the problem....
Hope someone can help. This is obviously not a network issue, it's deeper than that else the resolution wouldn't be defaulted to 800x600 on my hd monitor.
I'll add, I don't know much at all about windows installation. I've never done it before.
I followed Choose a Network Location (Step 31 of 34) this step by step guide, which was fantastic, (that's the third section showing), and followed all instructions and pictures just fine. Until the network window.
I suspect it's something to do with the booting screen (hardly know anything about it, except I was in it before, trying to do a repair instead of install). So maybe I messed something up.
Jenny.
