    Dual boot W7 & W10 issues accessing files/folders.

    Hi.

I have dual booted a number of times in the past with w7/w8/w10 and all worked fairly well but in the end I gave up and went back to single boot w7 home premium.

The issue I always seem to have is that all 2nd boots had issues with file/folder access. I kept getting the "no permission to access" warning.

My OS is on an ssd as C drive and I have another 2tb spinner with 3 partitions for Data, Music and Photos. Backups go to a 4tb spinner and external drives.

How do I solve the "no permission" issues so that a dual boot can have equal access to all files/forders and drives ?

I want to keep my Windows 7 and dual boot with windows 10.

I have a spare w7 retail lic from an unused notebook so I should be able to use that lic key after the w10 upgrade.

Run an Admin account on all OS's.

When you first try to access a folder on another OS drive, click through the permissions message to see if it will show a green progress bar in the URL box during which time it is transferring permissions as it should for an Admin.

If the permissions are not granted this way then I'd question how the install was done. Look over these steps to do a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7 to make sure you're not doing anything differently.

If not then install and rightclick each needed User folder using Take Ownership Shortcut.
