Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a Macbook Pro

Hello,

I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my Macbook Pro's bootcamp partition.

I have completed the installation process and I am at the point where I need to enter my license key but when I do it claims my key is not valid.

I even tried my friend's key which is 100% proven valid and it still says that the key is not valid. I even tried typing the key in without the the automatically connect to the internet option and still it thinks ever key I type in is not valid.

Have any of you encountered this problem?

anyone out there have success installing windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on their macbook pro?

mine is a october 2008 unibody model.

When you received the not valid notice, you should have also received a notice to call. With this call you input your number with a push button phone. If it does not go through you will be told to hold and a real person wll speak to you. Explain the problem, he will look it up, if a valid number he will activate for you. If you do not get the number notice look in this forum un activation and it will give you step by step what to do.

Incidentally, if you use your friends number and he used it already, it would not be valid.

well this is at the point immediately after an installation b4 the computer is booted fully into the OS.

it is at the part where you form your username and after that it prompts for a license key.

also since the computer has not fuly booted there are no drivers for the ethernet or wifi so it can't connect to the web to check the key.

You have 30 days before activation is required. Just leave the prompts for a license key part empty and continue with the installation.

Activate Windows 7 by Phone

You can run Windows 7 for a few days to make sure everything is running smooth, then try to activate it again.

I have 64 bit Ultimate installed on my MacBook Pro under VMWare with no problems. If you can't get it working under Bootcamp try VMWare.

I don't want to run it in a VM

the purpose of installing windows on my Macbook Pro is for Solidworks and Gaming.

also I tried installing it in Virtualbox which has 100% full support for windows 7 but it still gave the same error message.

UPDATE:

turns out my college's help desk neglected to tell me that he windows 7 discs were only upgrades. So I had to load on a copy of windows XP pro then upgrade that.

well the good news is that its up and running and my liscense key does work now I jut need to wait for my mac drivers for windows to finish downloading ten I can connect to the internet and register.

thanks for your help guys

I installed just the way I told you to do. I did not give my key until I was satisfied with they OS. According to the instructions, if you do not give your key, the system is suppose to ask what edition you want.
