Windows 7 created an extra 200MB partition

I have no idea what that partition is for, but why are people up in arms about it. Who cares?

This partition contains boot files. BTW, its of 100 MB unless you are using an RTM version of Windows 7.

You're right, it is 100MB, but I am using RTM version.

If you don't want it or never plan to use Bitlocker you can use this method. It's up to you. It will not hurt anything. I alway install without it.

Install without 100MB partition new drive

It not only contains the boot files, but makes the same Repair Console found on the Installer/Repair Disk available at F8 during bootup, plus will automate Startup Repair, Windows Memory and other diagnostics upon system failure.

So it is useful and not worth getting rid of, although I believe you can do so by marking Win7 partition active, deleting 100mb part. and running Startup Repair 3 times to rewrite the MBR.
