I have a Dell XPS M1530 notebook with 2GB RAM and want to install Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Does it make sense to try to install the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version, as the 2 GB Ram should be sufficient (according to Microsft requirement list) ? Or would the system be more stable if I install "only" the 32-bit version ?

2 gigs is the minimum for 64 bit. absolute minimum. If you are not going to upgrade the ram you would be better off with 32bit. It uses less resources so your 2 gig will go further. If you do any heavy media editing 64 bit would only be better if you plan on upgrading the ram

I'd stick with 32bit. You will have fewer driver issues for sure. Lots of people "think" that 64-bit is way faster than 32-bit...but I find in most cases this is simply not true. Only when using CPU intensive apps which are truly 64-bit...do you really see any significant performance increases.
