Install xp and windows 7 on one drive

    Hello,

I am planning to buy windows 7 within 2 weeks. I am currently using windows xp.
    My computer specs is
    Processor : pentium-4 2.93 ghz
    Ram : 632 ghz (512+128)
    OS : WIN XP
    Hard drive : 80gb
    Screen res:1024x768

I partitioned my hard drive into 4 (c,d,e,f), C drive contains Windows Xp and each drive is with 7.5 gb stored.

I want to keep my xp as it is and i want to install windows 7 also.

Is is possible to partition my drive and use it for xp and windows 7, if so pleaseee help me or specify any perfect tutorial on the web.

    Thanks

    vaakash,

Only minor things left to do before installing Windows 7 , check the system requirements, and
Execute the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor so you know before if drivers and software cause you trouble:
    Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

If you like to export your user data and information to Windows 7, you can also use Windows Easy Transfer:

    Have a nice day!

You can boot from your Win7 installer, choose Custom>Advanced tools, then create and format additional partitions as you wish before installing Win7 to the second partition.

Perhaps you might consider 3 partitions for XP, Win7 and data, since you only have 80 gigs.

Windows 7 installer will configure your dual boot menu fine as long as no other data drives are plugged in which could confuse the installer.

Later when you are ready to leave XP behind, we can show you how to delete XP and recover its space for Win7 using a partition manager like free Partition Wizard, then repairing the Win7 MBR by booting into it's installer repair console and running Startup Repair 3 times.
