"Setup was unable to create a new system partition" even after format

I had a completely unexpected system failure while I was checking my email one day. Windows shut down unexpectedly. When I restarted, there was no OS detected.

Afterwards, I decided to do a fresh install of 7 from a bootable USB. During install, I was unable to install to my SDD when windows said only 32 MB were available. I deleted all partitions using through Windows installation. Still no luck after that so I decided to try and install onto my HDD after yet another clean and wipe through both Windows installation and Parted Magic (which was still was unable to do anything with my SDD).

After all that, I still continued to get the error message "Setup was unable to create a new system partition" so I went in and created a new partition through the command prompt, which I had to remove a stick of ram in order to accomplish.

After "successfully" creating the new partition, I still continue to get the same error.

Is the drive setup as GPT or MBR, if GPT you have to setup the installer as UEFI

instructions will be in the tutorial section.

I've been trying to run the installer as UEFI, similar to as how the tutorial (UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with) instructs. As many times as I've deleted the partition and started with unallocated space, it's still giving me the same error.

How do I check to see if I am in MBR or GPT?

You have to connect the drive to another PC to check with Disk Management.

If there`s another way, someone please post.

You probably just need a normal installer then, not setup for UEFI, I see not great benefit to UEFI anyway.

Well after investigating it some more, looks like my mobo only supports UEFI BIOS. Does this mean I need to get my harddrives to GPT? If so, how do I go about doing that.

You convert your hard drive to GPT by using diskpart with your install disc using command prompt at bootup.

Convert MBR Disk to GPT Disk

And you must create and use a UEFI installerto install windows 7 to a uefi bios and gpt hard disk.

Alright, I converted the drive to GPT which didn't really have an effect. Ended up switching cables and ports to SATA 0 and that had limited amounts of success.

Started copying Windows files in Windows installation and then it crashed. When I restarted, I'm now getting the BOOTMGR MISSING error. Suspecting RAM, I've ran ran Memtest x86 but it crashed as does Parted Magic.

I'm guessing it's a mobo issue now, which is frustrating considering that this mobo has been used for about 3 months. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Hi,
Not sure but post some screen shots of the bios options
I would doubt the board requires uefi install but I'm sure one or 2 of the settings have uefi install only that can be switched to compat mode instead or Other os.
Look at csm options along with secure boot.

agreed, most bios have the Legacy option or UEFI & Legacy, like mine.

but crashing after the install starts....that`s something different.

Yeah, crashing after installation and crashing during Memtest and in partedmagic makes me suspect a bad mobo. I flashed the BIOS to the most recent update and still no luck. I'm about ready to toss this out a moving car.
