    Terrorist,

You're going to need to reinstall Windows 7 to fix this. If you do not have the Windows 7 RC ISO file or installation disc that you used to install it the first time, then I'm afraid that you will need to purchase the retail Windows 7 to install it with instead.

Is there no way to save all my data?

That last one is revealing. System partition wasn't flagged active. Possibly caused by aborting the partitioning operation. It may that smbios wasn't confused - it simply couldn't report properly as there was no active flag.

How many times did you run startup repair?

Give it another couple of runs.

    That might do it.

Otherwise, select command prompt, type: ( press enter after each command)

    Diskpart

    sel disk 0

    detail disk

( make a note - of what it says - or take a pic )

    exi.

Yes, you can get your data off if it comes to it. Easiest is to use the File Transfer Wizard on the Free bootable Paragon Rescue Kit:

Where is the original RC .iso ? - if it is on the drive - you can copy that off with Paragon , too.

Could he not boot a live linux CD and access his partitions from it to backup the data?

It is worth a shot...download a live Ubuntu CD and run it to the live desktop and see if your other partitions can be accessed

How the heck did this even happen? Like.. honestly. I'm so tired of Microsoft. I would have switched to Apple long ago if I didn't detest them. I did nothing wrong...... so ****ing unfair.

I did the repair like 5 or 6 times. Maybe a few times more. I didn't keep track. Could you please assist me in salvaging anything I can?

    Yes, d/l the Paragon.

    It burns itself to cd.

    Boot the cd .

Select Normal Mode. Select File Transfer Wizard.

    Very easy to use.

Do the Diskpart commands first and post a screenie - There might be something there that will help.

Your original system partition ( if you have a 100mb one - that is it) should be marked active.

Find the partition number for it - e.g. 1

    type sel disk 0

    sel par 1

    act

    exi

    That may be the problem.

It's worth spending a few mins to try that.

Zidane24 has a valid point. Download latest Ubuntu release from here and burn in onto a disk using Imgburn. Boot from the Cd and select, "Try Ubuntu without making any changes to the system" and hit Enter.
