Error: 0x80300001 I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on one our computers that had XP 32 bit. I'm doing a clean install and have already formatted and partitioned the hard drive. The problem I'm having is that now it won't let me install windows 7. When you highlight the system partition it shows and error, which states, "Windows is unable to install to the selected location, Error: 0x80300001" I thought I might need a SATA driver for the hard drive but I haven't been able to locate the right one if thats the problem. Here are the specs...

How is your drive partitioned? Can you try this to see if it helps? It's for Vista, but the same steps may work for you. Hello CatlinPM first of all, Welcome to the Windows 7 forum!
You can try the correct driver from your mainboard, link below: Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia
And use the link from kegobeer to select the correct driver.
If you have any question(s) left, just ask, we will be happy to be of any help!

black screen Okay, I did finally get the darn thing to load...sorta... It rebooted fine the first 2 times during installation, but the 3rd time it tried to reboot and I get nothing, just a black screen. I tried booting into safe mode, and i get the message "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" but of course it cannot continue to install in safe mode so it makes me reboot and gives me the message "Setup will continue after restarting windows" Any ideas for this issue? Thanks by the way! | My System Specs | | OS XP CPU E6400 Motherboard Abit AW9D-Max Memory Corsair 6400 XMS2 2GB Graphics Card ATI HIS 4850 Sound Card Creativ Xtreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays View Sonic VX1935wm PSU Thermaltake 750W Case Antec Nine Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB |

Yes I did, I got past the screen that was giving me the 0x80300001 error. I got the installation started, and it seems fine up until the third time rebooting during installation, when the screen goes black upon restarting and will not come back on. | My System Specs | | OS XP CPU E6400 Motherboard Abit AW9D-Max Memory Corsair 6400 XMS2 2GB Graphics Card ATI HIS 4850 Sound Card Creativ Xtreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays View Sonic VX1935wm PSU Thermaltake 750W Case Antec Nine Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB |

Is there any chance you can delete all of the partitions on the drive using a tool like gparted, then boot up the 7 DVD, choose custom install, then drive options (advanced), and create the partitions you want? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 15 L502x OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7-2670QM Memory 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics 3000 + GeForce GT 540M Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 1TB 5400RPM Seagate |
