Reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64 bit issues
I have a Dell Vostro 220s that shipped with Vista in 2009. I purchased the 'Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit' with a product key and used it to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 approx 2 years ago. We have a new laptop now, we've copied all our important files onto the laptop and I would like to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 on the Vostro.
I went into the boot menu and set it up to boot from the DVD drive and then rebooted with the 'Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit' DVD in the DVD drive. It acts like it wants to read the DVD drive but then boots from the HD. Once rebooted, I can click on the setup.exe on the DVD drive and after selecting English it goes to a Not Responding state. Also, after rebooting if I insert the Windows DVD into the DVD drive and then choose to run setup.exe from the pop up, I get the same 'Not Responding' after choosing English and yes to allow windows to make changes to my PC. Anyone have any ideas what is wrong?
