I did work it out, it's the flash drivers which is foiling the install and causing windows 7 problems with writing files to the wrong place. I removed the flash drives after adding the drivers and that solved it. It makes me wonder how it will work if jnstalling from a flash drive instead of a DVD. I did buy one of the flash drives in order to do that but so far have not got around to using it for that purpose. However I think that I should as it should speed things up as I do need to reinstall yet again as the last one failed because my video is turning off after the install which means I cannot see anything. It is meant to complete the install but never completes as I cannot see anything and cannot respond to any prompts.
Therefore I need to install video drivers which will hopefully prevent windows from disabling the video.
BTW my monitor failed so I am having to use a TV out until I can find a replacement monitor. OMG I have really been hit with lots of crap in the last few months with failing monitors, hard drives, keyboards, TV remotes, and motherboards making life extremely difficult. I need to get this windsows install working so that I can RMA my main PC motherboard and the guarantee expires very soon.
So I have to do yet another install. Any tips on getting a flash drive install working without major issues with windows preventing the install? I cannot remove the flash drive if it is being used to install windows.
I think the drive will be okay now, there was only one bad sector on it and it should all be fixed now. It must be about 12 to 13 years old but has had very little use. I must sort out the RMA so need this system working ASAP.
