canīt install OS on HDD

Hi, i am a newbie and i just built a new computer. All the parts are new and i am booting from CD.

Hereīs the problem: I am stuck on the "where do you want to install Windows?" page. When i try to install an OS (ubuntu, windows 7) some error occurs. In windows it shows "unallocated space" but canīt make a new partition.

windows error: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu."

Linux (Gparted) error: "error fsyncing/closing /dev/sda input/output error"

I tried to use diskpart via shift+f10 in windows but..:
"DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of
an I/O device error.
See the System Event Log for more information."

My HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003
motherboard: MSI B150 PC Mate
BIOS: MSI Click BIOS (actualized)

My boot order is: 1) CD/DVD: ASUS DRW-24F1MT
2) HARD DISK:ST1000DM003

I would really appreciate if you try to help me

That`s because you are trying to install Windows 7 in UEFI mode to a GPT disk, you can`t do that, hence the error message, this is commom knowledge now.

What motherboard are you trying to install Windows 7 on ?

Manufacturers link please.

The motherboard (if supported) has to have

1) Secure Boot disabled
2) Legacy Mode enabled
3) The hard drive has to be initialized as MBR not GPT

The hard drive should be setup using Diskpart with your install DVD

DISKPART : At PC Startup

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk

motherboard: MSI USA

I did follow the tutorials but still the same errors.
When i run SeaTools DOS it shows "No hard drives found.", but in bios it shows HDD on SATA Port1.

I tried to install in LEGACY+UEFI and also just in UEFI.
SATA Mode can be only set to AHCI. Tried different SATA ports too.

Set the Bios back to defaults by hitting F5 once you`re in the bios. Make sure the drive is seen in the Bios and connected to sata port 1, make sure AHCI is enabled.

Make sure the bios is in Legacy mode or Legacy & UEFI (My Z87 and Z170 are both set like that.)

Make sure Secure boot is disabled, but that may not matter as it`s not a factory machine with Windows 8 pre installed.

Is the drive setup as GPT or MBR, I set them up as MBR and always use Legacy mode in the Bios, I have found no benefit to installing in UEFI.

Try again.

BIOS should be set good.

The problem is, i canīt set up the disk.
When i type command in diskpart like "convert mbr","set partition primary", it shows that I/O error.
Parted Magic canīt edit/format disk as well.

Donīt know, i did everything the usual way, so maybe iīll have just to return the disk to trader and try another one.

In that case, resort to my favorite tool in my arsenal, a Partition Wizard Boot CD, I always use it to setup my drive before an install.

I boot from it, delete the drive to unallocated if old (new should be unallocated ) then create a Primary partition, align, set Active and format (click apply after all these options are chosen, upper left corner) when PW says all operations were successful pop out the disk, put your install disc in, close PW, the PC will re boot then go to town.

Simple , easy and works every time.

An absolute must to have in your tool bag
