    Problems with booting Windows 7

    Hi,

I recently made a thread about how to install Windows 7 and 10 on different hard drives and on the same PC. I already had windows 10 installed so I unplugged hdd with windows 10 and connected the ssd that I wanted to install 7. I successfully installed windows 7 and 10 on both ssd and hdd and connected both in. I boot it up and pressed F12. Booted up in Windows 10 and it was Ok . Restarted and booted Windows 7 and it was not OK.

When I booted up to Windows 7, I get a black screen and then on the top of my screen, i start to get some color pixels. Maybe I'll get a screenshot later but had to do a hard reset. I unplugged the hdd for windows 10 and it booted windows 7 just fine.

    Any ideas?

Dual boot 7/10 on an oem, as it uses the same activation key, you can ONLY lgeitamately use that key on 1 OS.
Its more than likely that the boot option is skewed.

How do I clean install my HDD (Windows 10)?

I can't boot Windows 7 and do a wipe the entire drive of HDD(Windows 10) while plugged in?

I decided to just go with Windows 7 now.

Dual booting 7 and 10 can be problematic, hopefully someone with a dual boot will come along and give some advice.

But you made a good choice in the end :)

Not sure why you can`t get 7 and 10 to dual boot but, from my experience, the older OS should be installed first.

Why do you need to boot into 7 to wipe the 10 drive ?

You could use your install dvd, you could use a Partition Wizard Boot CD etc.

Honestly, 10 is not worth the hastle.

    Hi,
Get a hot swap dual or single bay and dual boot that way as you stated everything was fine using one at a time and not connected at the same time
