Installation of Windows 7 Home Ed. 64-bit

    Hello:
First, thank you for reviewing the issue I am experiencing with fixing my cousins computer. He has a Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop with Windows 7 Home Edition. He's been experiencing issues with his laptop looping when attempting to access this desktop.

Without losing his files and programs, how do I re-install Windows 7? I have tried F4, F8, F12, pressing the Shift key 5 times, At the present time I am at the Install Windows dialog box but am confused as to what to do from here.

It asks, "Where do you want to install Windows?" The "partition" options are: Disk 1 Partition 1: System 1.5 GB, Disk 1 Partition 2: Primary 287.6 GB, and Disk 1 Partition 3: HDDRecovery 9.0 GB Primary. Other options are: Refresh, Load Driver, Delete, Extend, Format, and New. I do not want to "Format" the drive, just repair it so he can access his desktop and I can perform a backup of his files then do a Factory Restore.

I cannot provide a snapshot of his screen at the present time. Any and All assistance/suggestions is Appreciated! Thank You!

PS: I hope this is the correct forum in which to post this issue. I am new at this.

I think there is something called a repair install, which should reinstall windows without deleting anything. I haven't tried it, so you will have to search online.
