How to create a security partition after Win7 & Win10 are installed

I have Win10 & Win7 installed and booting just fine. Normally when I install Win7 it creates a security boot partition of 100mb which I have been told is better to have. I realize it's not mandatory.

I don't know if Win10 uses it. Is there a way to create that boot partition after the OS's are installed?

Thanks,

Docfxit

There are indeed configurations with a 100MB partition that contains the bootmgr. However, you do not have that configuration. Your bootmgr is in the Windows10 partition. There is no need to do anything in addition. Just do not delete the Windows10 partition because then your Windows7 would not boot any more.

When you say security partition do you mean hidden partition for recovery file system?
You don't need that partition if you burned a copy to a CD or flash.
Better yet just keep frequent system image backups.
I have never wanted to, nor have, restored any system back to factory specs. It's a PITA.

Windows does not create a security boot partition, it is called a System Reserved partition, and it`s only created when you install windows to a drive of unallocated space.

A System Reserved Partition is useless, and has caused more trouble then it`s worth.

What`s with the 277 MB of unallocated space at the beginning of Disk 1 ? Did you Align that drive yet ?

I see what you mean now:
What Does the System Reserved Partition Do?

This partition contains two important things:
  • The Boot Manager and Boot Configuration Data : When your computer boots, the Windows Boot Manager starts up and reads the boot data from the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Store. Your computer boots the boot loader off the System Reserved partition, and it boots Windows from your system drive.
  • The startup files used for BitLocker Drive Encryption: If you ever decide to encrypt your hard drive with BitLocker drive encryption, the System Reserved partition contains the necessary files for starting your computer. Your computer boots the unencrypted System Reserved partition, and it will decrypt the main encrypted drive and boot the encrypted Windows system.

That answers my question.

I just added that to the first partition. Partition Wizard says it's aligned.

Thank you all very much.

I was not interested in a hidden partition for the recovery file system?

I will not be concerned about the System Reserved partition.

Thanks a bunch,
