    DVD Drivers

Made a USB stick with the ISO of Windows....I am trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my Dell laptop. I don't ha e an optical drive and its asking me for a driver for said DVD/CD drive.

Maybe a bad burn of the ISO on the thumb drive?

has it let you install windows yet or is it asking this on the install itself?

    try this:

"When Windows is asking for driver, just click Cancel. You will be brought back to the welcome screen. At the welcome screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to DIFFERENT USB PORT. Click Install Now again. The installation process will be like usual."

event3horizon this did not work as "usual" still getting the same message asking for a CD/DVD drivers. Aside from getting an external DVD drive, is there anything else I can try? I did swap it around in the different usb ports all to no evail.

If that doesn't work, then it can be a USB 3.0 problem. IS your stick USB 3.0 or are you putting in USB 3.0 ports? IT will not work with 3.0. U must use usb 2.0 stick with 2.0 ports.

Also, go into your BIOS and make sure where your drive settings are that nothing is set to 'raid mode' if there is such option. Try AHCI for your disk or IDE.

If all else fails, it must be bad burn of ISO. Make sure you use the official microsoft tool to do it.

There is no reason for windows to ask for a dvd/cd driver during an install, put the iso file on the stick again using this program, and try again.

Funny the laptop comes with a embedded eMMC instead of a Hard Drive. And there's no way to install Windows if this doesnt work

Yes, if that is the case, Steve has told me windows must be installed in UEFI mode.

What Operating System originally came on the laptop.

And when I said windows should not ask for dvd/cd drivers during an install, I just meant when using a usb stick sorry for any confusion.

The original OS was Windows 10. my gf hates it and since I work for a company that has MSDN figured I'd throw Windows 7 on it
