    Win 7 Shutdown???

    Hi folks, newbie here.

I have successfully installed and used Windows 7 (build 7100) but everytime I attempt to shutdown, it appears to stall. How long should shutdown take? I have waited as long as 5 minutes with the little circle prompt spinning and the words Shutting down showing...Thanks!

Oh yeah, I'm using the 64-bit version.

I am using the RC-1 according to the filename on the download.

    Me too, but fixed it

My 64 bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate wouldn't shut down either. To fix it, I went to [Control Panel], [System and Security], [Find and Fix Problems], [Action Center], [Troubleshooting], [Configure a Device], [Next], then a wizard fixed the problem.

I'm not sure what the precise problem was, but my next shut down was fast and clean.

The problem is that a program that was used during your session, did not close. I find that if I log off, first, the shut down goes much quicker and smoother

The RC was still beta and buggy, plus had a ton of monitoring software removed in the RTM.

Best to upgrade to RTM asap.
