    Logical, Primary labels mean MBR?

I'm making some progress now with my new W7 install on MBR via a UEFI motherboard.

I have a question: After first deleting the original install partition with a program that has a GUI (don't remember its name) the Disk 1 partition showed as 'Logical'. After using the app to create a 'Primary' partition formatted in NTFS, it now shows that its type is Primary.

Does the presence of either of these labels (Logical, Primary) or both, automatically indicate an MBR partition?

    We need more information please.

Are you installing to a new Hard Drive or an existing one?.

Have you entered the BIOS & selected Legacy for the install.

I thought I'd spelt out what I'm doing.

I'm about to reinstall W7 on a SATA HDD.

I did one install on it, then decided to wipe it and do it again.

I don't see how any BIOS settings are relevant to my question, which is actually only a general one, to satisfy my curiosity.

All I'm asking is, 'Are the terms Logical and Primary an indicator of an MBR partition?' As opposed to GPT?

If this too tricky, don't worry about it. The answer isn't essential to what I'm doing.

I would really appreciate some claification here....are there tutorials on Logical and Primary, GPT etc ?
Why in the UEFI are there P1 (& 2 or 3) entries and UEFI entries for the same drive(s) ?

Really appreciate clarification and/or info/tutorial, etc

    Thanks TiminAz

No, it`s not a clear indicator, Primary and Logical partitions can still be created on a GPT disk.

The clear way to see is in Disk Management.

If you installed to a MBR drive then it`s MBR, you should know that.

What?s the Difference Between GPT and MBR When Partitioning a Drive?
