Hey, so if i just replace the SSD drive with a new one, would i be able to get the laptop 100% working again? I'm not sure what is causing this problem. Could it be due to the motherboard itself?

Is it better to just buy another laptop?

Thanks

Hi,
Well a new ssd would be my next try if I were having the same issue,

If you have access to another computer I would connect the drive to a external enclosure and see if you could format it then
But yea 4 y.o. drive is not that old really but it could be a defect that just came out or it has a rootkit on it :/
Odd you can clean it but not format it

Which security suite/ antivirus did you have installed ?

I had Avast installed on there if i remember correctly. If I did have a rootkit on my laptop, would there be any threat to my personal passwords and such? I think it might have been my laptop becoming corrupt due to the fact that my laptop freezes sometimes when i plug or unplug the charger. I think the last time it froze on me completely messed up my laptop unfortunately.

I'd just clean it out with a can of compressed air and install a new ssd and go from there
Go to your bios and optimize defaults.
See what security and boot sections say as far as secure boot goes and try to install windows again
Let us know post the above bios sections with pictures showing what options are there and we'll go from there

Hiding unused "removable storage" devices from "Computer" folder
Not a major issue, of course, purely cosmetic, but still a minor annoyance none-the-less: I have a number of card reader drives that I never use (haven't even removed that plastic cover tape from them to help keep the dust out) that show when viewing the "Computer" window that displays drives. ...
