Installing Win 7 on Asus using USB

    Hello all,

I have a win 8.1 pre-installed Asus N55S laptop and now I want to install Win 7 x64 on it using a USB stick. But there is no USB neither in boot options nor in boot options in BIOS when I press ESC key. How to solve this issue please?

    Hi,
I believe you would be looking for Secure boot and seeing if you can disable that
Also look for OS Type and see if there is any other than uefi only as a option.

First off I would plan on testing the install with a totally different hdd or ssd and save the original if things don't go well then besides the cost of the other drive there is no loss.

    Thanks for the reply.

The installation USB seems to be fine, and I'm going to work only on C:\.
I don't see any Secure boot but UEFI is disabled and also PXI is disabled. There are only two boot options one for HDD and the other for CD/DVD drive. I think I need to purchase a DVD with more than 4.3 GB size, suitable for installing Win 7 x64 and test installing it using CD/DVD instead of the USB.

    Hi,
Just so Fast startup is disabled and legacy usb support is enabled :/
Might be best to use a usb 2.0 flash drive instead of usb3
I have no idea what PXI is ?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "But there is no USB neither in boot options"

But... there`s no 1 time boot menu key to bring up the boot menu ?
