No need to worry about anything. You can do an Upgrade from within Vista, you can install on a seperate partition and keep both, or you can do a clean install.
In all cases, you shouldn't have any major problems or no problems at all.
Most devices should be detected automatically or right after the first Windows Update, depending on your system. If some are not, Vista drivers do the trick most of the times.
I'd say, go for it. We'll be glad to help if anything messy occurs.
(Backup your files in any case, it's a new OS installation, u never know) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ENIAC OS Windows 7 RC 7100 32bit/64bit CPU Intel Core2Duo E4500 2.20 GHz Motherboard ASUS P5LD2-X/1333 Memory 2x1GB Kinsgston DDR2 800MHz Graphics Card Nvidia 8500GT Sound Card Onboard High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Sony Bravia 42" Keyboard Some cheap one Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse something Case LINKW 2222 Cooling Standard Intel Internet Speed 24MBps ADSL |

Just one thing to Add the Beta of Windows 7 will stop working on July1st (maybe with one month grace period to Aug 1st) so would strongly advise that this is not installed as your only Operating system. You will need to install an operating system to Replace Windows 7 when it stops working this may be a Later test version or reverting to Vista | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

From what I've read, It will stop working as of August 1st 2009, also from what I can tell we will be given a 'release client' so we do not have to go back to vista (or any other OS) right then and there.
I can't remember it exactly. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/Dv5-1235dx OS Windows 7 RC (x64) CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, 2.0Ghz Motherboard Quanta something Memory 4GB DDR2 RAM Graphics Card Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (pathetic) Sound Card Intel High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 15.4" LCD Laptop Monitor | 17" CRT Crapmonitor Screen Resolution 1280x800 | 1024x768 Keyboard Built-in Laptop keyboard Mouse Microsoft Arc Mouse (black) Hard Drives 320GB 5400rpm Internet Speed Varies on the connection quality to my neighbor ;) Other Info I hate myself for buying this laptop, the Graphics stink, getting new laptop soon! Totally Correct, there will be a Release Candidate, (possibly due April this year), which should have an expiry date later than August 1, hopefully by the time that this expires the retail (RTM) version should be available for purchase, and in an upgrade version for Vista users, that is affordable | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

It's still not a good idea to install 7 over Vista to only have 7 though. At least if you don't have a Vista installation disk to ever install Vista again should the need arise. A lot of people come back and complain that something in 7 doesn't work for them like it did in Vista and they need Vista as well but have installed 7 over Vista and don't have a installation disk. Not very wise IMO. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

Not very wise IMO. If that was directed at me in any way, I did not suggest it was a good idea to install over Vista (or any other primary OS you may use), and if my post suggested it was a good idea then my apologies. If that post wasn't directed at me then ignore this. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/Dv5-1235dx OS Windows 7 RC (x64) CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, 2.0Ghz Motherboard Quanta something Memory 4GB DDR2 RAM Graphics Card Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (pathetic) Sound Card Intel High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 15.4" LCD Laptop Monitor | 17" CRT Crapmonitor Screen Resolution 1280x800 | 1024x768 Keyboard Built-in Laptop keyboard Mouse Microsoft Arc Mouse (black) Hard Drives 320GB 5400rpm Internet Speed Varies on the connection quality to my neighbor ;) Other Info I hate myself for buying this laptop, the Graphics stink, getting new laptop soon! It wasn't negatively directed at you in any way, no need for apologies. It was only a point that a lot of people have done and can't undo therefore for anyone considering installing 7 as their only OS and over Vista at least in a beta stage, without a Vista installation disk, something to also consider before you do that. Probably the best way would be to dual boot 7 with Vista or install on a separate hard drive. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

One thing I have have noticed, that you may find out in the near future!
People who have installed Windows 7 beta liked it so much they deleted the original operating system.
It's that good in most cases.
It is NOT GOOD PRACTISE to do this on PC's with critical data that cant be lost.
This is just my observation. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dilithium Computers/Engineering (Myself) Star date 42.739285.5432.9 OS Win7 Ultimate x64 on Desktop / Win7 Ultimate x86 on laptop / Win7 x86 Starter on Netbook CPU AMD Phenom 965 X4 3.4Ghz cpu Black Edition Motherboard Gigabyte 790XT Memory 12 Gb DDR3 Graphics Card Nvidea Gforce GTX 470 Sound Card Onboard Realtek hi-fi Monitor(s) Displays Lg 3D led 23" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech wireless K350 Mouse Inferno gaming mouse PSU OCZ 700W GameXstream Case Artec 10000 Cooling On board + many case fans Hard Drives Loads maxstore sata 1 & 2/ loads of partitions + 1Tb Hitachi sata 2. 256Gb Crucial ssd. a lot of new laps and desktops have a recovery partition instead of a operating system disk, know your manual, and be sure you know how to initiate the vista imaging recovery if you go single op sys. | My System Specs | | OS XP/Vista/Windows 7 builld 7000 HOW TO INSTALL Windows 7 ? problems?
