Vista to seven

I am trying to upgrade to seven from Vista. However I mistakingly typed windows seven home instead of windows seven pro. After windows seven downloaded I was asked for the key which I entered correctly. The key was not accepted and now I cannot go back. Any suggestions please???

Hello Misterjess, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since this is an upgrade installation, you should be able to just close the Windows Setup window to cancel the upgrade.

So, you're saying Windows 7 Home Basic has finished installing?

Upgrade Install with Windows 7

If so, then you could just upgrade to Windows 7 Pro if able.

Check to see if you may have a "C:\Windows.old" folder. If you do, then look in the folder for your user profile folder path for the files.

I'm afraid that it doesn't look good then. They may be lost.

Are you sure that did an upgrade to Windows 7, and not a clean install instead?

Not sure Brink. Thanks so much for your help. I did back up on an external drive, but I may have still lost some stuff. Thanks again.
