How to dual boot Win 10 & win 7 after win 7 updated to win 10?

OK, maybe my title is confusing, but I am wondering if it is possible to first upgrade my present win 7 OS to win 10 than do a clean install of win 10, then dual boot with a fresh install of win 7 in a dual boot configuration? Reason behind this is that if I just upgrade to win 10 only, I will have to buy a new scanner, fax modem, printer and various software programs that are presently not compatible with win 10 because drivers are not available for my devices. I'm trying to minimize the cost of upgrading to Windows 10 and still have the capability of using my devices and old software programs with win 7. I hope I am clear on this. I would appreciate any suggestions or comments and if problems could rear their ugly heads on doing this. Thanks. NOTE I'd like to do this before July 29, 2016 to take advantage of a free upgrade to win 10.

Then I would not upgrade to 10 from 7, that makes no sense as you would still have to buy another Windows 7 license.

I would just buy a new ssd, and buy Windows 10, install it on the new ssd while your windows 7 drive is unplugged.

Then I would use the boot menu key to bring up the boot menu, then choose the Windows 10 drive when you want to use it.

It makes no sense at all to do the free upgrade to 10 if you`re just going to have to buy another Windows 7 license.

If you do not need Windows 10, then I wouldn`t even bother doing the free upgrade.

Windows 10 is just another Operating System, if you are happy with Windows 7, then I would just leave it alone.

- Very strange. If programs runs on Win 7 it should also run on Win 10.
- After the upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10 it's possible to reverse back to win 7 (if you haven't delete the backup files created by Win 10)
- You can do a fresh install of Win 10 using a valid Win 7 key. No need to do a prior upgrade.
- I've cloned my Win 7 to an old HDD and installed Win 10 on it. Despite I didn't like it, it worked 100%, even all my old Win XP 32 software. Now I can choose witch system to boot by BIOS.
- When installing an OS on a drive ALWAYS detach all other drives before you begin.
