    Install Stopped?

Computer completed installation rebooted, but I am not getting the screen "set up is preparing your computer for first use" -- instead, monitor went to sleep and it has been 20 minutes. How long does this take? Suggestions?

Computer still on. Light not on DVD drive from which I originally booted W7 OS system.

    Hi,
    Stalled with the installation dvd
You shouldn't be going into sleep mode during an install but sometimes I have had a delay before it starts installing windows files

Tough call what to do at that point just give it an hour and if no joy look into making new installation media
I believe I already posted the links how.

    Hi,
Just make sure the installation media has sp1 already on it
It is a pain to install sp1 after so long plus new media is too easy to get

Thank you Thrasher, but frankly none of your links works Since every post by you includes the same links, I find them suspisious. After gettting past the trust factor, they don't work. Call me incompetent if you like, but they just don't work.

    Hi,
Sounds like you have more problems than you know about
I verify all links so does forum moderators
Not only are they safe they work
I'd post another link to how to use clean boot but I doubt it would do any good with the problem's you're having
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click your Start button and type in the search box
    msconfig
Hit the enter key or click on the suggestion

    3. In the General tab, select (dot) Selective Startup, and uncheck the Load Startup Items box. (see screenshot below)
    4. Click on the Services tab, check the Hide all Microsoft services box, click on the Disable all button, and click on OK. (see screenshot below)
    5. When prompted, click on the Restart button. (see screenshot below)
    6. After the computer finishes restarting, determine whether the problem is resolved.
