Asus x552wa laptop Freezes when Installing 7 from a laptop

I created a usb boot drive with Rufus and , plugged it into a windows 10 pc that I want to upgrade! to windows 7 and all looked good because the bootdisk was accepted and said it was loading files to install windows but then just froze with the windows 7 logo.

I cant imagine , what the problem is afterall I booted from windows 10 , restart in uefi usb mode . All started well and then froze like that.

Everytime i try again it freezes on the windows 7 logo after install has started.

Is it possible to reinstall windows 7?

Possibly I did not make the right rufus , settings. Who knows what settings in Rufus to make? Or is this another problem again.

    Hi,
You would need to make sure asus made drivers for win-7 for this machine first
After use the asus ez installer
You just need to look up your machine and look in the driver downloads/ Utilities

Asus does not list providing any drivers for Windows 7 , only 10 and 8.1. Under other operating systems there are few things to download.

I thought drivers were Backwards Compatible, laptops are getting very difficult to format.
Anyway I still need to ask if there is a way i could still use Windows 7 on this laptop or not even an actual computer technician could install Windows 7 on this.

I was used to computers been IBM standard with , the home PC been Clones that could still use windows 3.1 or Linux with universal Drivers.

I havent realized if that has changed, what bad news from the Silicon Valley .

    Hi,
The link you posted asks which processor is on this model ?

But indeed laptops/ notebooks are very different than desktops
People tend to need the touch pads/ sd card reader/ webcam ..... and windows may or may not install a generic driver but without the ability to adjust the touch pad you'd need to use a wired mouse.

As already said, some laptops aren't able to install Win 7.
When you launch Win 7 Installation disk, do you have mouse? Does it ask for drivers?
    I've looked at the manual - http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/X550JD/0409.pdf
On page 79 you have BIOS boot tab.
Disable Fast boot and enable Compatible System Mode (CSM) and then try to install.

Changing to Windows 7 , seems like more hours than I can donate to this project so I think i will get some estimates from Local Shops and see if they can do it. I sure hope that whatever the Microsoft Releases in the years to Come gets to a point that it is atleast equal to windows 7,

then i will have a good OS.

Until then i just wonder how they could have made windows 10 worse than windows XP.

Maby I need to find an Apple!

I think Megahertz is on the right track. CSM mode is sometimes referred to as Legacy BIOS, if your motherboard supports it. Here's another link to a successful install of W7 on UEFI system: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with

    Hi,
I doubt it would do much for a lot of the devices hardware for drivers
You do have 30 days to activate windows to see how well 7 would work
Not activating 7 would mean you wouldn't waste a oem/ system builders license if the machine features don't work well so at least you could use the license on another machine or possibly as a virtual machine using VMWare inside win-10 to see how it goes.

You can get installation iso to use with this and test it now :)
