I can now confirm that the 32 Bit 'boxed retail' version of
Windows 7 Home Premium has the 16 Bit system files required to run 16 Bit software. I did a clean install on an empty hard drive; then I checked for the necessary files in the
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder. I did not allow Windows to connect to the Internet in order to prove that these files had come from the Installation Disk - not a Microsoft Update.
Anyone know if an
OEM 32 Bit version of Windows 7 will run 16 Bit software?
