Windows 7: Windows 7 and 16 Bit software

Windows 7 and 16 Bit software

I can now confirm that the 32 Bit 'boxed retail' version of Windows 7 Home Premium has the 16 Bit system files required to run 16 Bit software. I did a clean install on an empty hard drive; then I checked for the necessary files in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder. I did not allow Windows to connect to the Internet in order to prove that these files had come from the Installation Disk - not a Microsoft Update.

Anyone know if an OEM 32 Bit version of Windows 7 will run 16 Bit software?

John

If the Home Premium will run it, its safe to assume that Ultimate will as well...

The only difference between OEM and the retail and upgrade versions is the fact that the first, OEM, cannot be used on more than one machine. It can be used only on the original computer that it was installed on.
