Classic Shell was the first thing I installed this morning! :) Can't live without it!

I bought an XP disk just before MS quit supporting XP, but I never used it and ended up giving it away. However, I don't have any recovery for my Win 7 computer, so perhaps you're right and I should hold onto Win 7 when it comes...just in case.
Depending on what you are getting and where you are getting it from, the Windows 7 disks may not be usable on any other system than the HP you have. If you are getting the disk(s) from HP as a downgrade rights option it will likely be a type of recovery disk that will only be valid on the HP system it applies to.

Of course if you are getting a regular OEM disk and Key then that will work on any hardware (but of course can only be used on the hardware it's first used on

If your old computer has a Win 7 COA stick with a key, you can do a fresh Win install using a Win 7 Installation disk.
you can download the iso from here: Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool

With the Win 7 disk that you are receiving I think that it will have all you need to install on the new (Win 8) computer.
