    Installation Problems

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 onto a formatted 74gb Raptor drive separate from my Windows XP drive. After many tries, I cannot get past the blue screen after windows loads from the dvd I burned.

All I get is the blue windows splash screen and this:

    Windows 7 Beta
    For Testing Purposes Only
    Build 7000

at the bottom right corner of the screen.

    My specs:

cpu: AMD Athlon 64x Dual Core 6000+
    ram: 4gb
    gpu: GeForce 9800 GT

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm also getting a similar error, straight after a clean install, and it tries to boot into windows to finish install, I get a blue screen of death, I can quickly read "Dumping Memory" but it restarts to quick.

Tried safe mode, but it says can't continue install in safe mode.

after the computer POST's can you keep pressing F8 and then go to disable automatic restart on system failure...

can you try to remove as many components not necessary to your install and to operate your machien (i.e if you have an IGP use that one instead) ?

    error I get is
    atikmdag.sys Address FFFFF880034187E8 base at FFFFF8800340600

So it is graphics related, but if my graphics card is not compatible, I'd rather wait till a release with compatibility.

    I've found
    AMD Customer Care

Is there anyway I could install these onto the windows 7 partition?

EDIT: Ok, I booted the system with the onboard graphics card (ATI Radeon X1200 (i think)) and tried to install the windows 7 drivers, but the display driver failed to install (x1200 is not support by it I don't think). Tried putting my graphics card back in and booting, and got the same error.

Tried booting with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled, same result.

Burned the ISO to a DVD and I am booting from it. Boots up normally, then tells me to hit any key to boot from disc. I do that, and it shows a black screen with the loading bar. Finishes loading and gets to this screen:

BUT, there's no command window on mine. Take that window out and that's where I'm stuck. Nothing but the blue screen and the stuff at the bottom right corner...

Let it sit for at least 10 minutes once.

Have you tried burning a new DVD at a slower speed setting ? ?

I was able to boot into safe mode, uninstall the current display drivers through device manager, then boot up normally and install the windows 7 drivers.

edit: installing the ati drivers for windows 7 just hung and wouldn't continue, so I installed the latest vista drivers, which brought me back to the atikdag.sys error. Uninstalled through safe mode, but now when windows tries to install it's drivers it says the device is corrupt, so I run chkdsk, but the error remains.

I also cannot get sound working, i have ac'97 audio, and the latest vista drivers for it seems to do nothing.
