Please I need some advices...

Hello everyone,

Sorry for bothering you but I have some questions and hopefully you can help me. I just got a new desktop and I want to buy windows 7 and have a clean installation. Beeing first time I decided to pay for OS I kinda wonder what should I do and therefore I need your advice since I don't have a lot money to just waste on various tries. I checked the features on home, pro and ultimate and decided to go for pro.

1. I would like to have both systems 32 and 64 installed on the computer ( 32 for games and 64 for work - to use the full 6 Gb RAM I have on the comp ) so, is it possible to have both if I have just 1 HDD?

2. The price for the DVD with both, 32 and 64, is equal with the sum of the prices for two different discs, one with 32 and another one with 64 so, should I buy 2 separate installations or the one with both? What do you recommend?

3. If point 1 is possible, please, any possible link with a tutorial about the installation and how would affect the programs installed on the computer when changing the OS? ( I mean, for example, Adobe Photoshop installed while on 32 bit would work when on 64 bit or will require a new installation of Photoshop ? )

Thanking you for your time, I hope you will make things a little more clear for me.

Best wishes, Hyperboreus

7600.20510 x86

Install the x64 version so you will have full use of your memory. That is all you will need. The x86 will be unnecessary for you in all likelihood.

If you currently have Vista x86 installed, a completely clean install is needed. You can boot to the DVD to do this. It will then place all your existing files into Windows.old that you can check for anything you want to keep when you get to desktop. Then, you can use disk cleanup to delete Windows.old.

You will have to reinstall everything.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Dude, you don't need to install both x32 and x64, x64 is enough for both gaming and utilities, I do know that not much apps are compatible with x64 but they will still run on it as x32 processes with no problems while the apps that are compatible with x64 will run perfectly.

Go ahead with x64, just make sure you have the drivers of x64, I've downloaded all of them before I changed to win 7 x64.
