    Question About OA Editions??

ok, so i have a question. I bought a new toshiba laptop, i have a quick question....
The laptop came with "Windows 7 Home Prem OA" or so the sticker says..... my question is, if i was to uninstall windows from this laptop... can i install it and use my key on my desktop?

Heres the situation. I bought the laptop, but want to throw linux on it. I want to use my CD from the laptop on a desktop install.. still only one install. ... if i was to do this would i be able to use a standard windows 7 home premium cd? or do i need an oem type cd? and can i use the key for a 64x install even though its a 32x install on the laptop.

No, you cannot use that key on anything other than the laptop. You have an OEM version, and as stated by the EULA, it is tied to the original computer and cannot be moved to any other computer. That's why OEM is much cheaper than retail - retail can be uninstalled and moved to any computer, any number of times.

You know, you don't have to wipe the drive to install Linux. You can create another partition and install Linux on it, or you can buy another drive (very cheap nowadays) and swap back and forth to your heart's content.

If you want to install Windows 7 on your desktop, you'll have to buy a new copy.
